Struggles of Cloud Gaming in Indonesia
Do you ever wonder:
How do i play my graphic-intensive games without going to a gaming internet cafe?
My mind instantly getting reminded by the term "Cloud Gaming".
Quick disclaimer (i just had to give you this haha):
This is just me sharing my thoughts regarding cloud gaming in general in Indonesia, not as a way to promote any of the companies mentioned in this notes.
Whenever i think of Cloud Gaming, the service that first comes to my mind is Xbox Cloud Gaming, a cloud gaming platform by Microsoft. Naturally, i searched down the rabbit hole only to discover that (as of August 2026)... it is NOT compatible in Indonesia. Heck, it is not officially available anywhere in Southeast Asia!
So... what options do we have as Indonesians?
After spending a couple of minutes researching and surfing around, I found several options thats available or atleast usable here in Indonesia:
AirGPU offering is lowkey the most interesting out of the bunch. It gives you access to an entire Windows computer (a virtual machine*) rather than limiting you to a catalogue of games.
This means you aren't limited to just play games, you can do... anything. Unlike conventional cloud gaming services that only allow you to play games from their supported catalogues.
AirGPU also has servers in Jakarta and in Singapore, so latency shouldn't be a major issue.
The way you use AirGPU is also pretty cool, you connect through Moonlight or Parsec. In case you aren't familiar with Moonlight, basically it's like high-performance, low-latency remote desktop client designed for game streaming. To be more precise, here is how Moonlight describes itself:
Moonlight (formerly Limelight) is an open source implementation of NVIDIA's GameStream protocol. We implemented the protocol used by the NVIDIA Shield and wrote a set of 3rd party clients. You can stream your collection of PC games from your gaming PC to any supported device and play them remotely. Moonlight is perfect for gaming on the go without sacrificing the graphics and game selection available on PC.

AirGPU also uses a pay-as-you-go pricing model, so you only pay for the hours during which you use the service.
No subscription! That's genuinely nice.
*(reminder): since AirGPU is a VM, some game that have anti-cheats might have not work well. Test before you commit further! See game incompatibility matrix here
CloudGaming.my was previously operated as a GeForce NOW service. It appears to be a reasonably solid option, although its reliability from Indonesia may vary because they only technically serve Malaysia region. However, it does allow users from other countries to register. Some users have also reported stability problems, as documented here,
The advantage of using this service is, although it's not as close as a "pay-as-you-go" plan, it does have short pass plan such as the 1-day pass plan. You therefore do not necessarily need to commit to a monthly subscription.
It offers streaming up to 1440p@60fps.
This also might be cheaper than other cloud gaming plan because it's a quite mature and established service worldwide (the GeForce Now part)
The disadvantage however, is that you can only play games included in its supported catalogue. Although this is LOTS (we're talking Nvidia here), but you are restricted to can only play the gaming catalogue it offers.
It may also be less reliable from Indonesia because it does not operate any servers here.

I do not have much to say about Blacknut because it is simply not what I am looking for. However, since it is technically a cloud gaming service, I thought I should include it for anyone who might be interested in this kind of platform.
One of Blacknut’s main advantages is that its client is available on a huge number of platforms. You can use it on Macs, web browsers, phones, and even televisions. It also works in Indonesia.
Blacknut includes a bundle of more than 1,000 games, meaning that you do not need to own separate licences for the games in its catalogue.
The disadvantage is that its catalogue is relatively limited. While 1,000 games may sound like a lot, most of them appear to be family-oriented or AA titles. There is very little freedom to play whichever games you personally want.
You are also required to subscribe in order to use their service. No 'pay-as-you-go' plan available.

Wait, that's it?
Well, there are a few other contenders, but I do not particularly feel like recommending them because they seem rather terrible for one reason or another.

Turns out Telkom Indonesia (a state-owned ISP) operates its own cloud gaming service.
The advantage is... They offer up to 1080p@60fps streaming quality. And you might get a free Rexus gamepad if you subscribe to GameQoo service with your Indihome subscription.
That's it. I'm not even joking.
The first disadvantage is that there does not appear to be a clear pricing page on its website.
They also had a weirdly quite old game catalogue like MotoGP 17, WRC 7, etc. A VERY SMALL game library, of around 150+ games. They also only offers Windows client and USeeTV (the Indihome-bundled set-top-box). Feels sketchy if you ask me.

I have heard many people say good things about Boosteroid. Unfortunately, because it is not realistically usable for most Indonesians, it has to remain near the bottom of this list.
Boosteroid does not operate any servers in Southeast Asia. Therefore, even if we could access the service, the latency would probably be terrible.
There also used to be a GeForce NOW service in Singapore operated by StarHub, but it officially ended service in May 2026. :(
Final Thoughts
Here is a quick pricing comparison of the three most viable cloud gaming services I found:

|
AirGPU
RTX VM |
US$0.90/hour
Pay as you go |
RTX 4060 graphics 8 CPU cores 32 GB RAM Full Windows virtual machine |
|
CloudGaming.my

First month Rp340.000/month Afterward |
More than 1,000 bundled games No separate game licences required Supports computers, browsers, phones and televisions |
Prices use each service’s original currency and may change over time.
Personally, I am leaning towards AirGPU because it is essentially like remotely accessing a computer at an internet café. 😂
It gives you considerably more freedom than catalogue-based cloud gaming services, and its pay-as-you-go pricing means you do not have to maintain yet another monthly subscription.
That is it for my research of "Cloud Gaming" services availability in Indonesia. Thanks for reading!
